10:00 — 2:00 PM CST
Meet at UChicago Institute of Politics
5707 S Woodlawn Ave
Chicago, IL 60637
(Travel provided to and from site visit)
Join us, in partnership with the University of Chicago Institute of Politics (IOP) for a Chicago Policy Trek on Equitable Transportation.
Each trek offers a small group of University of Chicago students the chance to dive into a political issue by meeting with a broad range of public service practitioners. Participants will explore: What have been the primary failures and successes surrounding the provision of accessible transportation to those with disabilities? How does Chicago's history of racism and segregation influence transportation policy today?
Speakers include local transit advocates Andrea Reed (Executive Director, Greater Roseland Chamber of Commerce) and Cheryl Johnson (Executive Director, People for Community Recovery), as well as a site visit to the Metropolitan Planning Council featuring Audrey Wenninck (CLA'20).
Meals and travel to and from the site visit are provided.
