Join the Center for Effective Government at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy in welcoming Senior Practitioner Fellow Liz Hempowicz back to campus for a day of student engagement opportunities on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.
CEG Lunch ‘n’ Learn: Advancing Democracy Reform on Capitol Hill
Liz Hempowicz will discuss her experience developing and advancing policy solutions to combat corruption and to promote openness and accountability in government. Hempowicz is an expert on whistleblower protections, conflicts of interest, ethics, FOIA, separation of powers, and the National Emergencies Act. She has testified before Congress several times and has been cited recently in various news outlets.
She has participated in efforts to improve the Inspector General Act, the National Emergencies Act, lobbying and congressional ethics rules, whistleblower protections, the Freedom of Information Act, and other government accountability initiatives.
Lunch will be provided, and there will be an opportunity for discussion during the program.

Meet one-on-one with CEG Senior Practitioner Fellow Liz Hempowicz! Office hours provide currently enrolled University of Chicago students the chance to connect directly with CEG Senior Practitioner Fellows. Students can use this time to speak with the Fellows about their interests, seek advice, ask questions about career or internship opportunities, to invite a Fellow to a particular event, and to consult with the Fellow. Appointments are 15 minutes long. All University of Chicago affiliates are eligible to participate. Please register using your UChicago email address.
