Marshall Hatch Jr. (CLA'20): Partnering for Community Impact

As executive director of The MAAFA Redemption Project, Marshall Hatch Jr. (CLA’20) creates the space for young men in West Garfield Park to re-imagine themselves as leaders and change agents in their community. The University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration and University of Chicago Divinity School graduate says the elders of New Mount Pilgrim Church-Chicago gave him identity and purpose to understand that his life’s work should be to invest in young people just as they invested in him.

As a 2020 Civic Leadership Academy fellow, Marshall was challenged to think critically about transformative leadership and structural reform within the city of Chicago.
